Operations Supervisor

Lampert Lumber is a multi-location lumberyard company that has been in business since 1887! We operate 31 locations in five states across the Midwest. We supply top-quality lumber, tools, cabinetry, and hardware supplies for homeowners and contractors. We are looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our growing team.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Oversees all work activities of functional area
  • Establishes work schedule and develops cost effective plan to meet store operations goals
  • Assists with Dispatch, Yard, Driver, and Sales Teams to help schedules and coordinates deliveries and/ or pick-ups
  • Maintains equipment and machinery
  • Works to ensure a safe work environment and encourages adherence to safety guidelines
  • Prepares and verifies reports as applicable
  • Assist with supervising personnel and ensures adherence to department/ company policies and procedures
  • Maintains discipline, fosters good employee relations and boost morale. Performs other normal supervisory duties
  • Assist with personnel management duties including training, initiating disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, monitoring and making departmental wage recommendations.
  • Ensures excellent customer relations/service
  • Help maintain proper inventory levels
  • Follow inventory cycle count procedures
  • Monitors costs of assigned area
  • Performs other related duties as necessary

Successful candidates for role will have:

  • Minimum education required High School Diploma.
  • Minimum experience required 2 years of experience supervising workers and work groups in a related work environment, i. e. warehouse, lumber yard, etc. Supervising a workforce of 15 to 50 subordinates.
  • Strong communication skills - Ability to develop, promote and maintain good customer relations
  • Ability to maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment
  • Must have a good understanding of OSHA requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, bending or stooping, regularly lifting 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or moreon occasion, and work in extreme weather conditions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
