Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Key Account Manager for the Advanced Materials Division will serve as a business manager for the assigned key account. The Key Account Manager will lead the development and execution of key account strategies; managing and delivering key account sales and growth targets; building, maintaining and strengthening customer relationships; and maintaining/gaining end-user specification for the Advanced Materials product portfolio.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military environments to a 3M career.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Develops and executes key account strategic and operating plans.
Identifies key contacts within the respective key account, and develops and maintains such relationships.
Established and manages a relationship plan at all levels of the key account and Advanced Materials Business, and across key functions.
Leads and works with cross functional team to create values & provide solutions to support key account growth and to meet/exceed sales targets.
Works to gain specification / product technical acceptance at all required levels and all end-customer operating regions to include headquarters.
Manages Key Account P/L to annual operating targets.
Understands key accounts' operating model, decision making process, organizational structure, and site footprint.
Drives customer intimacy as measured against customer Key Performance Indicators.
Leads and participates in customer management of change and NPI projects.
Develops monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and communicates these to the Advanced Materials organization.
Negotiates and manages global contracts & pricing; maintains global price consistency.
Provides market/ industry updates and voice of customer to Advanced Materials organization.
Leads effective communication internally and externally to expeditiously address issues and delight the customer.
Basic Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a Technical discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience as a Sales Representative and/or an Application/Product Development Engineer with chemicals or additives
Minimum of five (5) years of key account management sales experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited university
Experience with chemical and plastics processing - extrusion and injection molding
Ability to engage and sell to all decision makers, including executives, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing operations
Experience collaborating with and leading global and or cross functional teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accommodate changing circumstances
Proven leadership skills
Patience and ability to work long sales-cycles; up to five years before close
Ability to identify future market trends and position AdMD products for success
Proficient in the use of Salesforce.com
Location: Oakdale, MN. Remote location may be considered for the following cities; Cleveland OH or Lexington KY
Travel: May include up to 50% domestic
Relocation: Is authorized within country per 3M policies
